Your research related to work and health could make you eligible for the 2019 Work, Stress and Health conference research competitions. The first step is submitting a conference proposal by Jan. 28, 2019.
Awards led by conference organizers recognize achievement and research in the area of occupational health psychology. One competition is for student-led research; the other recognizes workplace interventions. (Apply for one or both, if your proposal meets the criteria for each.)
The Work, Stress and Health conference covers numerous topics of interest to labor, management and researchers. Expert presentations and informal meetings with leading scientists and practitioners provide a learning forum for the latest developments in occupational health psychology.
Proposal submissions are being accepted until Jan. 28, 2019, and are submitted online. Download the call for proposals PDF for details on how to prepare a submission.
This competition recognizes outstanding student research that is being conducted in occupational health psychology. All student first-authored submissions to Work, Stress and Health that are accepted for the conference are eligible for the student award competition. See the website for full details of the requirements, timeline and how to apply.
This competition recognizes outstanding evaluations of interventions in which researchers partner with industry and labor to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses and to promote workplace safety and health. All abstract submissions accepted for the Work, Stress and Health conference and that describe interventions are eligible to enter this competition. See the website for full details of the requirements, timeline and how to apply.
Convened by the American Psychological Association, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the Society for Occupational Health Psychology, the conference will run Nov. 6-9, 2019, in Philadelphia.
The 2019 conference will give special attention to the workplace of the future. As the world copes with growing economic, political, environmental and social changes, what can organizations do to sustain the health and productivity of their workers?
Healthy work not only helps employees meet their basic need for income, but also provides opportunities for skill development, meaningful experiences and social connections. What are the positive aspects of work that can be leveraged to promote safety, health and well-being for all workers, and how will those aspects of work contribute to organizational effectiveness?
Complete details for proposal submissions are available at the conference site; contact WSHConference@apa.org with proposal or conference-related questions.
