This article focuses on the results of a recent survey examining employee appreciation. Survey results suggest that 53% of employees feel appreciated at work, 36% believe that money is the best form of appreciation, and 52% prefer face-to-face appreciation over public appreciation. In addition, 88% of employees agree that it is important to reward great work, but only 41% believe it actually happens. The article suggests that these results highlight a great opportunity for organizations to improve their processes. For example, 90% of the respondents who agree that their organization effectively rewards employees also report feeling that their work was important. The article concludes that many employees seek meaning in their work, and effective employee appreciation can help them achieve it.
