Summary

This article focuses on how managers impact employee well-being. The article states that middle managers can play a stronger role in wellness than senior management because they are responsible for follow through and quality control, allocating resources (i.e., time, space, money), and creating conditions that support success. The article lists ways managers’ behavior can enhance employee well-being, including modeling self-care, staying active, showing gratitude, offering health and well-being education, making wellness convenient, offering healthy options in the workplace, keeping wellness options stress-free, and participating in wellness programs themselves. The article concludes that managers can use their gateway role to set a positive example to impact employee well-being.
