Summary

This article argues that talent comes to those organizations that provide flexibility to their workers. The article suggests that having policies supporting flexibility at work is not enough; the notion of flexibility must also be embedded into the organizational culture. The flexible organization empowers its employees by aligning itself with the talent, and in doing so, empowers its workers, freeing them from fighting through layers of official approvals when they need to take advantage of flexibility. The article concludes that organizations that have line managers and leaders supporting a culture of flexibility will be able to successfully retain and manage talent and, consequently, contribute to company success.
